TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Malone University track & field teams concluded their second competition at the Tiffin Revolution Classic, hosted by Tiffin University.
The Pioneers were given another chance to get back in the swing of racing on the track, after having the 2020 outdoor season canceled, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There were a handful of teams that participated alongside the Pioneers. Here are some of the highlights from the meet.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Natalie Crum competed in the weight throw and finished with a distance of 13.39m, placing her in 5th place. In the long jump, Logan Ferrucci finished in 3rd place with a jump of 4.98m and 5th place in the 60m hurdles.
Sabrina McClain finished the mile run in 2nd place with a time of 5:18.52.Â
In the 400m run, Rebekah Carr won the race in 1:01.78.
Azure Curtis raced the 200m dash and finished in 2nd place with a time of 27.62.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Travis Morgan led the men in the weight throw, coming in with a 5th place finish, with a distance of 16.69m. Chris Beemiller (8th) and Owen Zeiter (11th) finished the shot put event with a distance of 13.52m and 13.04m, respectively.Â
In the long jump, Collin McClure finished in 5th with a distance of 6.42m.
Tony Cappillo was the first pioneer to finish in the mile with a time of 4:33.28. Tucker Markko was also the first Pioneer to finish the 800m run with a time of 2:07.85. In the 3,000m run, Max Gucker finished in 4th in 9:06.89.
In the 200m dash, Tellis Horne clocked in a time of 22.79, which placed him a comfortable 5th place.Â
WHAT'S NEXT?
Next Saturday, Malone will compete at the Findlay Alumni Classic in Findlay, Ohio. There will also be a few athletes who will compete at Youngstown University for the YSU Mid Major Invitational.Â
