The Malone University baseball team suffered a 5-0 setback to Eckerd College Friday night during the second day of Baseball Week hosted by Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. The loss marked the second straight for the Pioneers, who slipped to 5-3 on the season.

An unearned run in the top of the second was all the Tritons would need in Friday night's victory, but they tacked on three insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings and then scored their final run in the top of the ninth.

Malone was no-hit for the first five and two-thirds innings before
Turner Hill broke up the no-no with a clean single to center.
Joe Crank added Malone's only other hit, a single, in the bottom half of the seventh.

Eric Mullet (1-1) was charged was his first loss of the season after pitching eight innings and giving up four runs (three earned). He struck out five in defeat. Eckerd lefthander Andrew Shaw (4-0) tossed seven shutout innings, allowing just the two hits while striking out four.
