CANTON, Ohio -- The Malone University women's basketball team returns home this afternoon as the Pioneers close out the 2020 calendar year by hosting Lake Erie College inside Osborne Hall.
MALONE-LAKE ERIE HARDWOOD SERIES
This afternoon is the 29th meeting all-time between these two programs. Malone holds a lead in the overall series 19-9.
The two teams just played in February of 2020 with Lake Erie earning a 65-61 win in Canton.
The last win for Malone came in the final regular season game of the 2018-19 season, a 56-34 win at home.

Due to current local health regulations, fans are limited to just two spectators per student-athlete. These tickets are made available directly through communication with the student-athlete.

All patrons are asked to wear a mask and social distance inside the gym. We also ask that patrons exit the building immediately following the contest.
FIVE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE PIONEERS
- Malone last played back on December 19 when they fell in overtime at Tiffin University 69-67. Senior guard Holly Groff led the Pioneers with a game-high 25 points in the contest. Her three-pointer in overtime helped her eclipse 1,000 career points.

Madison Hunter continued her high level of play, scoring 15 points on 7-11 shooting. She also pulled down eight rebounds to tie Groff for the team-lead on the boards. Hunter has posted a 54.3 field-goal percentage this season which is sixth best in the G-MAC.

The Pioneers defense forced the Dragons into 19 turnovers, and turned those into a 25-5 advantage in points-off-turnovers.
- Individually on the offensive end of the floor, Holly Groff ranks inside of the top ten in the G-MAC in scoring, three-point field goal percentage and three-point field goals per game.

The Pioneers enter play tonight as the fifth-best defensive team in the league, surrendering 77.6 points per game.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT
Lake Erie has yet to play a game in the 2020-21 season. Last year the Storm finished 10-19 overall and 7-11 inside of G-MAC play.
Breanna Bauer is the top returning player for Lake Erie. The senior forward led the Storm in rebounding (6.4 rpg), blocks (0.7 bpg) and field goal percentage (53.2) last season.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Pioneers previously scheduled contest at Trevecca Nazarene University on January 2 has been postponed. Malone is now scheduled to take the court again on Monday, January 4 at Kentucky Wesleyan College. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. ET.
