Holly Groff Earns G-MAC Player of the Week Award

Groff surpassed Tonya Miller's previous Malone record of eight three-pointers set back in 1997.

Malone University redshirt junior guard Holly Groff was selected as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week following her record-breaking efforts in a 90-82 win over Hillsdale College Saturday in Osborne Hall.

Groff, native of Macedonia, Ohio (Nordonia HS), netted a school record nine three-pointers on her way to scoring a career-high 33-points. The nine threes marked the most by a G-MAC player this season (Groff is also second on the list with seven treys against Trevecca). Five of her threes came during a pivotal four-minute span in the fourth quarter when the Pioneers, who were down by four, reclaimed the lead for good.

Groff's 33 points were also tied for the most by a G-MAC player this season and accounted for the most by a Pioneer in 14 years. In addition to the scoring outburst, she collected five assists, two rebounds, and a steal while leading Malone to victory.

So far this season, Groff leads the G-MAC with 56 three-pointers and her 17.6 points per game scoring average ranks fourth. Over Malone's current five-game winning streak, Holly is scoring 23.4 points per game and shooting 55.6% (25-of-45) from three-point range.

Malone will next travel to take on Findlay on Thursday, January 30th before a rematch with Hillsdale on February 1st.
