The Malone University women's basketball team opened the 2020 New Year with an impressive 81-53 victory over Trevecca Nazarene University Thursday night to remain unbeaten at 4-0 in G-MAC play. The Pioneers scored 48 first-half points then put it on cruise control as they rolled to their eighth win in 12 games this season.

The visiting Trojans (3-11, 0-5 G-MAC) grabbed their only lead of the game with a three-point basket on their first possession, but Malone quickly reversed the lead and remained in front throughout. Sophomore guard Robin Campbell scored 10 points in the opening session as the Pioneers led 24-16.
 
Malone held Trevecca to just four field goals in the second quarter and seven different Pioneers cracked the scoring column as a 24-8 margin resulted in a 48-24 lead at the halftime break.
 
The Pioneers stretched their lead to 30 early in the third quarter and as high as 33 points in the fourth on a three-pointer from Holly Groff. With the benches cleared late in the contest, sophomore Olivia Clark made her first collegiate appearance and scored her first career point on a free throw. Freshman Kayla Gudel also connected on her first collegiate field goal to close out the Pioneer scoring and seal the home triumph.

-The Pioneers collected 14 three-pointers, their second-most in a game this season
-Malone held the Trojans to just 36.1% (22-of-61) shooting and improved to 7-0 when holding opponents to less than 40%
-The Pioneers outrebounded the guests 46-33 and made 10 more free throws (13 to 3)
-Malone is 7-0 against Trevecca since joining the G-MAC in 2016.
 
Pioneer Highlights
-Holly Groff sank a career-high seven three-pointers to finish with 21 points. She added a team-high seven rebounds and five assists.
-Robin Campbell (7-11 FG, 3-5 3PT, 3-4 FT) added 20 points, marking her third 20-point game of the season.
-Senior forward Ellen Doyle posted seven points and five rebounds while leading the squad with six assists, three steals, and two blocks.
-Sophomore Mikayla Poole drained two triples and tallied eight points off of the bench.

-Bayleigh Carmichael scored a team-high 11 points
