The Malone University men's and women's indoor track & field teams made their 2020 season debuts Friday at the Youngstown State University College Invite in the Watson and Tressel Training Site. The event included numerous NCAA Division I schools providing stiff competition for the Pioneers.

Redshirt sophomore
Mackenna Curtis-Collins, an All-American at last year's Indoor National meet, posted Malone's only victory on Friday. Curtis-Collins trimmed nearly five seconds off of her personal-best time to win the mile race in 5:02.43.

Nick Chaplik placed second in the men's 3000 meters, finishing less than a second behind the winner with a time of 8:40.77.
Christopher Cannon (8:46.84) and
Lucas Huber (8:56.66) finished fifth and eighth, respectively.

Tellis Horne, the fastest sprinter in Malone history, placed sixth in the 60-meter dash (6.94) and fifth in the 200 meters (21.75). In his first race of the year, Horne threatened his school record times of 6.88 and 21.60.

Malone will compete in the Spire Midwest Open next Saturday, January 25th in Geneva, Ohio.
