The Malone University baseball team overpowered Nyack College 10-2 on Saturday morning on the final day of Baseball Week at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. The Pioneers finished 8-3 over spring break and return to Ohio with a 10-5 overall record.

Senior first baseman
Austin White drove in the game's first run in the top of the first with a single to left field. Malone made it 2-0 in the top of the second on a sacrifice fly by
Zach Mottice. The Pioneers increased their lead to 4-0 with a run in the fifth and another tally in the sixth on
Jacob Mottice's RBI ground ball.

Malone scored six in the seventh to take a 10-0 advantage. An RBI single by
Turner Hill, a bases-loaded walk by White, and a wild pitch scored the first three runs in the inning. A three-run bomb by
Josh Haygood scored the others. Haygood's homerun was his second of the season.

Nyack scored its only runs in the bottom of the eighth before Malone shut them down in the ninth to close out the game and a fruitful spring break.

Junior righthander
Tommy Walker (1-0) tossed six shutout innings to earn the victory on the mound. Walker allowed only four hits and a walk while striking out seven in his second consecutive quality start. Florida native
Nathan Hill tossed an inning of scoreless relief.
Chandler Stahl pitched the final two frames and totaled five strikeouts.

Offensively, Malone racked up 14 hits, including a team-high three from
Josh Haygood.
Tyson Gingerich,
Matt Noel, and
Austin White each collected two base hits. Haygood, Noel, and
Zach Mottice both scored twice.

Malone will play Trevecca Nazarene in its home opener next Friday, March 15th at Jackson High School. The first of two weekend doubleheaders begins at 1:00 pm.
