Robin Campbell’s Career-High 28 Carries Malone to Win at Clarion

Sophomore Robin Campbell scored a career-high 28 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter, to lead Malone University to a 69-48 victory over Clarion University Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference women's basketball tilt. With the win, the Pioneers improved to 4-3 on the year as they enter conference place next Thursday.

Recap
In a low-scoring first period which featured twice as many turnovers (13) as field goals (6), the Pioneers used layups from Campbell, Alexis Hutchison, and Madison Hunter to take an 8-6 advantage.

Malone heated up in the second quarter, shooting 60% (9-for-15) to extend the lead to 29-19 at the break. Campbell scored 10 points and Holly Groff knocked down the team's only three-pointer of the game during the session.

Malone got itself into foul trouble in the third quarter and allowed the Golden Eagles to close within six points in the final minute of the frame, but still led 41-35 headed into the fourth.

In the final stanza, Clarion came as close as five points with eight minutes to play when a free throw made it 43-38. The Pioneers separated, though, on a 10-0 run capped by off by a Groff bucket in the paint. Malone would then score 10 points in the final 48 seconds to build a 69-48 margin of victory.
