Non-Conference Home Games with Notre Dame and Carlow Await Women’s Basketball

Alexis Hutchison leads the team in field goal percentage (54.8%)

The Malone University women's basketball team continues its non-conference schedule this week with a pair of home contests against Notre Dame College (OH) on Wednesday, November 20th and Carlow University (PA) on Saturday, November 23rd. Following this weekend's game, Malone will not play at home until December 20th.

Series History
Malone is 26-12 all-time against Notre Dame, which currently competes in the Mountain East Conference. The two teams met last November in South Euclid, Ohio where Malone prevailed 65-52. Against Carlow, which plays in the River States Conference of the NAIA, Malone is 11-3 all-time. The Pioneers and Celtics last met in December of 2016 when MU won 70-47.

Malone Notes
  • The Pioneers went 1-1 last week, including an 85-66 win vs. Salem and a 79-68 loss at Seton Hill.
  • In the win over Salem, Robin Campbell led Malone with 17 points, seven, rebounds, and six assists while Mikayla Poole added a career-high 15 points.
  • Holly Groff totaled 15 points and a career-high 11 rebounds in Saturday's road loss. She ranks second on the team in scoring (10.3 ppg) through four games this season.
  • Campbell leads the team in scoring (11.8 ppg), assists (12) and steals (8). Last season vs. Notre Dame she registered her first collegiate double-double (13 points, 11 rebounds)
  • Senior forward Sydney Wentling is averaging 10.0 points and a team-high 7.0 rebounds. Versus Notre Dame in 2018, Wentling scored a team-high 17 points.
  • Freshman guard Alexis Hutchison (9.8 ppg) leads the team in shooting percentage (54.8%).
  • Ellen Doyle rounds out the starting five, averaging 8.8 points and 4.8 rebounds.
  • Dating back to last season, Malone has won eight of its last nine home games.
  • The Pioneers have also won six straight games when shooting over 40% from three-point range, including twice this fall.
     
Notre Dame Notes
  • The Falcons are coming off an 88-54 exhibition loss at Bowling Green on Monday night but are 3-0 in their three previous, all of which were on the road.
  • Senior guard Seina Adachi leads NDC with 19.3 points per game. Last season she scored 29 points in the 65-52 loss to Malone – no other player scored more than six.

Carlow Notes
  • The Celtics are led by 6'1 senior Emma Stille, who averages a team-high 15 points and 14.8 rebounds per game. In the 2016 matchup against Malone, Stille recorded 10 points and eight rebounds.
  • Carlow, which is located in Pittsburgh, is coming off of a 66-41 win at Penn State-Kensington last Friday.
