Game Recap: Softball |

Softball Drops Two Against Cedarville

The Malone University softball team dropped a pair of games to Cedarville on Tuesday. The Pioneers dropped game one by a score of 3-2. Malone was shutout 4-0 in game two. Malone drops to 10-8 (3-5) on the season.

Game One Recap

After a quick first inning, Cedarville broke things open in the second inning. Cedarville scored all three of their runs in the second, highlighted by a two-run triple by Sarah Parsons.

The Pioneer offense was quiet for most of the day, but began to come to life in the sixth inning. Madison Corrick got things rolling with a one-out single. After Anna Myers moved Corrick to second, Serena Tucciarelli and Ashley Beck hit back-to-back RBIs to cut the Yellow Jacket lead to one run. However, the rally would halt, and the Pioneers would fall 3-2.

Isabella Roberts gave up zero earned runs while pitching a complete game.

Game Two Recap

The Pioneers' offensive woes would continue into the second game, except there would be no rally inning as Malone was shutout 4-0.

Cedarville scored two runs in the first inning to take the early advantage over Malone.

Bailey Byers and Madison Corrick both singled up the middle in the bottom half of the inning, but were unable to cross the plate.

Cedarville picked up two more runs on three hits in the fourth, to take a 4-0 lead that would hold throughout the contest for the Yellow Jacket victory.
