The Pioneers started slow in the early going, making just one field goal and trailing 13-2 over the first eight-and-a-half minutes of the game. A three-point basket by
Naomi Grandison, however, sparked a 9-0 run that carried into the second quarter as Malone cut the deficit to 13-11. The Pioneers wouldn't take their first lead until the 2:34 mark of the second quarter when a pair of free throws by
Sydney Wentling put Malone ahead 25-23. But from there, the Pioneers never trailed again.

After going into halftime leading 28-23, Malone outscored the Scots 31-14 in the third quarter as a steal and a fastbreak layup by
Robin Campbell on the second-half inbounds ignited the Malone offense. The Pioneers made 12 field goals in the third quarter and scored 11 points off turnovers. The momentum carried into the fourth quarter as the Pioneers outscored Ohio Valley 17-14 on their way to the 25-point victory.

-Ohio Valley committed 26 turnovers in the contest as the Pioneers collected 17 steals. That total marked the most in a game since the team swiped 20 against Carlow in 2004. Malone had exactly 17 steals in its previous five game combined.
-Malone finished with 23 points off of turnovers.
-Ohio Valley managed to out-shoot Malone, making 21-of-52 (40.4%) of its field goals and 7-of-15 (46.7%) three-pointers.

Chrissie Vaughan, who surpassed 800 career points in the victory, finished with a team-high 15 points, four steals, and a block.
