Women's Soccer Begins Road Trip

The Malone University women's soccer team begins a four-game road trip this week, starting off at Ursuline College on Thursday before heading to Lake Erie College on Saturday. The Pioneers are still searching for their first win in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference this season.

The Pioneer ladies are coming off a pair of back-to-back losses against conference opponents at home. Despite recent struggles, a pair of wins this week would put Malone above the .500 mark on the season. Danielle Lung is leading the Pioneers in scoring with four goals on the season. She is tied for seventh in the G-MAC in goals scored. Kirsten Hilty is just behind Lung with three goals on the season. Malone is passing the ball well on the offensive end. They have assisted on twelve of their goals this season compared to just nine assisted goals by opponents.

Ursuline is averaging 2.43 goals per game, third most in the conference. On the defensive end, the team has also completed three shutouts so far this season. Those three shutouts account for all three of Ursuline's wins this season. Steph Chlad is leading the Arrows with eight goals on the season, good enough for second most in the conference so far. In addition to Chlad, seven different Arrows' players have scored at least one goal this season.

Lake Erie has won their last two contests and will take on Walsh University on Thursday before facing Malone on Saturday. Marissa Brannon, the goal keeper for Lake Erie, is currently second in the conference with 55 saves this season. She is saving 6.88 shots per game. Brannon has three shutouts this season. Carley Kandel has scored three goals this season for Lake Erie.
