Women's Soccer Returns Home

The Malone University women's soccer team will play two home conference games this week. The Pioneers will take on Kentucky Wesleyan at St. Thomas Aquinas High School at 2:30pm on Thursday. On Saturday, the Pioneers will take on Trevecca Nazarene at 1:00pm at Hall of Fame Legacy Sports Complex. Malone is currently 2-1-2 on the season (0-0-2 in the G-MAC). The only loss on the season for the Pioneers came in their first game of the season. Last week, Malone battled for two ties in G-MAC competition.

Record: 2-1-2 (0-0-2)

The Pioneers lone loss on the season came in their season opener, a 3-1 loss to Northwood. Malone followed that loss with a pair of wins over Salem International and Defiance. In their most recent contests, conference games against Alderson Broaddus and Davis & Elkins, the Pioneers walked away with a pair of 1-1 ties. After their four-game road trip, the Pioneers return back to Canton to try and get their first home win of the season. Malone split with Kentucky Wesleyan in 2016 and lost both games to Trevecca Nazarene. The Pioneers are averaging just over 20 shots per contest, second most in the G-MAC. Danielle Lung has attempted 24 shots on the season, which is third most in the conference. Lung's four goals this year are tied for fourth most in the G-MAC. Kirsten Hilty's three goals are tied for the eighth most goals.

Record: 0-4 (0-3)

The Panthers are in search of their first win of the 2017 season. The Panthers' closest attempt at a shot to win the season came against Cedarville. Kentucky Wesleyan held a 2-1 lead with just under ten minutes to go, but Cedarville was able to score two goals in the final eight minutes to take a 3-2 victory. Breight Haase and Madisyn Hunt have two goals apiece for the Panthers this season. The goal keeper for Kentucky Wesleyan, Taylor Rentchler, has allowed twelve goals and has 33 saves on the season. Rentchler's 33 saves are the fourth most in the conference. She averages 8.25 saves per game, which leads all G-MAC goalkeepers.

 

Trevecca Nazarene Team Notes

Record: 3-0-2 (1-0-2)

The Trojans are one of four G-MAC teams without a loss this season. After starting the season off with three straight wins, Trevecca's two contests last week each ended in 1-1 ties. Trevecca has allowed just three goals on the season, second least in the conference. Liz Denton, who led the G-MAC in shutouts and goals against average in 2016 is off to another great start. Her 84.2% save percentage is third in the conference right now. She has 16 saves, while allowing just three goals.
