The Malone University men's soccer team is on the road for a pair of conference games in West Virginia this week. The Pioneers will take on the Battlers of Alderson Broaddus on Thursday before heading to Davis & Elkins to face the Senators on Saturday.

Despite coming up short in their efforts, the Pioneer men ended their last game with high amounts of energy and effort. Malone will look to carry that intensity over to their road trip this week in search for their first victory of the season. Malone will be taking on the two teams that they finished the 2016 season playing, falling by a close score of 2-1 in both of those contests. Earlier in the 2016 season Malone lost to Alderson Broaddus 2-0 and tied with Davis & Elkins 2-2. Sam Condon, Austin Coldsnow, and Jacob Rice all have one goal so far this season. Condon leads the team with 13 shots taken as well, nine of which have been shots on goal.

The Battlers have had some tough battles indeed in the beginning of their G-MAC season. Alderson Broaddus has tied both conference opponents, Ohio Valley and Davis & Elkins. Alderson Broaddus is coming off of back to back losses going into Thursday's contest, falling 2-1 to Saginaw Valley State (Ranked fourth in NCAA Division II) and falling 2-1 to Northwood. The Battlers have scored four goals on the season, which have come from four different players. Callum Doyle and Ashley Sibisi lead the team with three points apiece (one goal and one assist each). Blake Carter and Patrick Negele have split time at goalkeeper this season. Neither keeper has a Goals Against Average over 1.00 and each keeper has one shutout on the season.

The Senators' only conference game on the 2017 season so far ended in a 1-1 tie against Alderson Broaddus. Davis & Elkins started their season off with a 2-1 victory over Salem International. Their most recent contest was a 2-0 loss to Mercyhurst, who is ranked 17^th in Division II. The Senators take on Walsh on Wednesday evening before they face Malone on Saturday. Rafa Moreno has scored two out of the Senators' three goals this season. The other was scored by Pablo Salvador Lopez. Everton Carvalho started in the win against Salem and their tie against Alderson Broaddus. Hedi Mehnaoui started in goal in the team's loss to Mercyhurst.
