The Malone University softball team's 2017 campaign came to a close on Saturday afternoon as the squad was eliminated from the G-MAC Tournament following a 1-0 loss to Davis & Elkins College. The Pioneers' 19 wins this season are the most since 2002, and the team had its first postseason victory since 2002 this year as well.

The bats were quiet for both squads early in the contest. Shelby Hulin's single to left field in the second inning was the only hit for either team in the first three innings of play.
 
Davis & Elkins started the fourth inning with a leadoff triple, followed by an RBI double to take a 1-0 advantage. Those back to back hits would end up being enough for the Davis & Elkins victory, as Malone was unable to get a run on the board.
 
Davis & Elkins had three more hits in the fifth inning but the Pioneer defense held them from adding to their lead. Malone gave up just five hits and had no errors in the contest.
 
Taylor Lauer and Shelby Hulin each had multiple hits in the contest for the Pioneers.
