The Malone University softball team lost a pair to Saginaw Valley on Monday. The Pioneers got shutout in both games, 2-0 in the first game and 12-0 in the second.

Game One Recap
Â
Saginaw scored on an RBI double by Meredith Rousse in the top of the first inning after the first two batters of the game reached on walks. Pioneer pitcher,
Isabella Roberts, settled in after the first and kept Saginaw off of the scoreboard until the fifth inning.

Roberts gave up a pair of singles in the fifth, allowing one more run to score. Saginaw's 2-0 lead would be enough to secure the game one victory.

Shelby Hulin,
Madison Corrick and
Emily Beck each had one hit for the Pioneers.
Isabella Roberts allowed just four hits from the Cardinal offense and struck out four batters.

Game Two Recap
Â
The Pioneer offense continued to struggle in game two as the team was only able to get two hits in the contest. Saginaw's offense was firing on all cylinders, scoring twelve runs on fourteen hits in five innings.

Aubree Mouthaan hit a two-run homer in the first inning to take the early 2-0 lead.

The Pioneers got both of their hits in the second inning, singles by
Emily Beck and
Anna Myers, but were unable to capitalize on the opportunity.

Saginaw broke things open in the third, scoring seven runs and taking a 9-0 lead. The Cardinals started the inning off with back-to-back homeruns by Routhe and Mouthaan.

Saginaw would add three more runs in the fifth to earn the 12-0 victory.
