Softball Begins Twenty-Game Homestand

The Malone University softball begins a twenty-game home-stand this week, starting with a non-conference double-header with Ashland on Wednesday afternoon. The Pioneers will take on G-MAC opponent, Trevecca Nazarene, on Friday and Saturday in a four-game series.

Malone is 3-21 all-time against Ashland. Ashland swept last year's two-game series with Malone, winning 3-0 and 10-2. The Pioneers are 0-3 all-time against Trevecca Nazarene. Malone and Trevecca last faced off in 2015. Trevecca won 11-3 in both games of a double-header.

  • The Pioneers are looking to get back on track this week after going 1-6-1 last week. Malone split with West Liberty, lost one and tied one with Mercyhurst, and lost four straight at Cedarville.
  • Malone is averaging an impressive 4.59 runs per game, which is second in the G-MAC. However, the team is allowing 5.44 runs per game which is the second most runs in allowed in the conference.
  • The Pioneer offense leads the G-MAC in several statistical categories, including slugging percentage (.422), on base percentage (.389), triples (6), and walks per game (2.94).
  • Malone has six players with a batting average higher than .300. Three of those players, Maria Mokler, Anna Myers, and Clara Friend have a batting average that is over .400.
  • Ashley Beck is second in the conference in homeruns with four on the season. She also has a slugging percentage of .643, which is third in the G-MAC.
  • Anna Myers is currently fifth in the country in on-base percentage (.595). Myers is batting .433.

  • Ashland went 5-3 last week. The Eagles swept Notre Dame College in a double-header, and split with Ferris State, Grand Valley State, and Cedarville.
  • The Eagles are led by senior outfielder, Ally Farrah. Farrah has a batting average of .470 on the season. Farrah has 39 hits and 8 RBIs, and has stolen 15 bases this season. Farrah has zero errors in the field this season as well.
  • Freshman, Danya Denner, has started her college career off on a high note. She is batting .360 on the season and has 3 doubles, 3 triples, a homerun and a slugging percentage of .527.
  • Paige McMenemy carries the majority of the workload from the pitcher's circle. McMenemy posts a record of 6-4 on the season, starting in 10 games and appearing in 18 games. McMenemy has an ERA of 2.59 and has struck out 49 batters on the season. She has four complete games under her belt this season.

  • After losing five straight games, the Trojans got back on track just in time to start conference play. Trevecca started their G-MAC schedule with a four-game sweep over Davis & Elkins. Trevecca outscored Davis & Elkins 19-1 in those four games.
  • The Trojans will take on Lee University on Wednesday before making their trip to Canton to face the Pioneers.
  • Trevecca has five players batting over.300 on the season. Two of those players, Ashton Stowe, and MaKray Odom, are batting .400 or higher.
  • Two Trojans have already reached 20 RBIs on the season. Kat Bubrink has 20 RBIs and a .303 batting average. She has two doubles, one triple, and three homeruns on the season. Alex Richardson has 20 RBIs and a .241 batting average. She has four doubles, and a team-high six homeruns on the season.
  • Raygn Hall has pitched a team-high 62 innings for Trevecca this season. She has a record of 4-7 on the season and is posting a 3.63 ERA.
