The Malone University men's basketball team jumped out to an early 30-7 lead and never looked back on Tuesday evening as the squad rolled to a 97-60 triumph over visiting Alice Lloyd College.
The Pioneers took a 45-29 advantage into the locker room at the break after shooting over 63% from the field and knocking down six of 11 three-pointers over the first 20 minutes.
The Eagles, who entered the contest with a perfect 6-0 record, used an 11-4 scoring run to cut the deficit to 14 at 62-48 midway through the second half. However, that was as close as Alice Lloyd would get as Malone pulled away over the remainder of the contest for its third consecutive victory.
The Pioneers improved to 4-1 on the season following Tuesday's game while Alice Lloyd, a member of the NAIA, dropped to 6-1 overall.

-The Pioneers shot 57.7% from the field (30 of 52) on the night which marked their highest shooting percentage since February of 2014 when the team shot 57.8% in an 84-75 home victory against Ashland University
-Malone knocked down 13 of 25 three-pointers (.520), marking the fourth time in five games this year that they have made 13 of more attempts from beyond the arc.
-The Pioneers also shot the ball well at the line, sinking 24 of 29 (82.8%) free throws
-The Eagles, who entered the game averaging 106 points per outing, struggled to get on track all night against the Pioneer defense, hitting just 28.9% of their field goals and six of 27 (22.2%) treys
-Although Malone held a 50-38 edge in total rebounds, Alice Lloyd grabbed 19 boards on the offensive end
-The Pioneers committed 20 turnovers but also grabbed 11 steals and dished out 23 assists on their 30 made baskets

Ty Jordan filled up the stat sheet with 21 points, a career-high 11 rebounds, five assists and two steals; The senior, who tossed in a career-high 35 points in Saturday's win at Kentucky State University, hit five of seven treys over the course of the evening on Tuesday

Marcus Ernst tossed in a season-high 15 points and six rebounds off the bench; The freshman hit six of his seven shot attempts, including all three of his attempts from beyond the arc

Daylan Haynie registered his first career double-double with 12 points and 11 assists. He also grabbed four steals in 33 minutes
