The Malone University men's soccer team fell to Ashland University in Wednesday's soccer match 2-0.
Both teams struggled to get anything going offensively in the first half. Neither team attempted more than five shots in the first half. However, Ashland found a way to get one of those goals into the back of the net. Clemente Gomez-Morey scored his second goal of the season with just under ten minutes remaining in the first half. 1-0 would remain the score at halftime.
Although both teams picked up the aggression and took more shots in the second half, both struggled to score again. Ashland scored one more goal for insurance with less than four minutes remaining in the contest. The goal was headed in by C.J. Maynard after a long pass from beyond midfield by John Duldner after Malone was called offside. The goal was Maynard's first of the season.
Malone will be back in action on Saturday in an away game at Ohio Valley. Â
