GameDay Notes: Men's Basketball Welcomes Lake Erie Thursday, Faces #25 Ashland on the Road

Mitchell Spotleson is second in the GLIAC in three-point percentage (45.7%), ninth in rebounds per game (7.3), and 14th in field goal percentage (52.2%).

The Pioneers will host Lake Erie College in Osborne Hall on Thursday, February 4th for an 8:00 p.m. tip-off and will travel to Ashland, OH to face NCAA Division II #25 Ashland University on Saturday, February 6th for a 3:00 p.m. match-up.

Malone Notes:
-The Pioneers lost at rival Walsh University on Monday night, 99-97. Five Malone players scored in double digits. Jay Parker posted a career-high 26 points after connecting on 11 of 16 shots from the field. He also tallied six rebounds and five assists. Stephen O'Daniel III added 23 points, Mitchell Spotleson had 20 points, Christian Graves had 11 points, and Brian Stone had 10 points.  Malone outscored the Cavaliers 38-26 in the paint and 36-0 in bench points
-Brian Stone is not only ranked first in Division II in field goal percentage (73.0), but he has the best field goal percentage in all of college basketball. He also leads the team in points per game, averaging 14.8. He has scored in double digits 13 times this season.
-Mitchell Spotleson is ranked ninth in the GLIAC in rebounds per game (7.3). He has grabbed 146 total rebounds on the season (35 offensively and 111 defensively), which is also a team high. He is also second in the GLIAC in three-point percentage (45.7%) and 14th in field goal percentage (52.2%). He is ranked second on the team in points per game (13.1).
-Neil Gingerich leads the team with 19 total blocks. Earlier this season, he had two back-to-back games where he tallied a season-high four blocks.
-Jay Parker is ranked sixth in the GLIAC in assists per game, dishing out 4.5.
-As a team, the Pioneers are ranked third in the GLIAC in field goal percentage (46.3%), fourth in three-point percentage (37.3%), and seventh in assists per game (14.7).

Lake Erie Notes:
-Cliff Hunt has been at the helm of the Storm's program for 11 years.
-The Storm are returning 11 players from last season's squad.
-Lake Erie snapped their four game losing streak, beating Ohio Dominican University 97-84 last Thursday. Guard Andy Bosley finished with a season-high 30 points and added five rebounds. 
-The Storms' leading scorer so far this season is Andy Bosley. He has tallied 310 points, averaging 14.8 per game and is ranked 17th in the GLIAC in points per game. He has scored 20 or more points in seven games this season.
-As a team, they are ranked 10th in the NCAA Division II in fewest turnovers per game (9.6).
-Lake Erie's record at home is 5-5, while they are 2-7 on the road.

Ashland Notes:
-John Ellenwood is entering his seventh season as the Eagles' head men's basketball coach.
-The Eagles are returning eight players from last year's team.
-Last season, the Eagles loss 79-67 to Ferris State University (MI) in the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinals.
-Wendell Davis is eighth in the GLIAC in rebounds per game (7.6) and ninth in three-point percentage (42.6%).
-Nick Bapst is fourth in the GLIAC in three-point percentage (44.8%).
-Marsalis Hamilton is 11th in the GLIAC in rebounds per game (7.0) and 12th in field goal percentage (56.0%).
-Michael Hundley is ranked 19th in the NCAA Division II in total blocks (46).
-As a team, the Eagles are ranked fifth in the GLIAC in three-point percentage (37.1%), seventh in rebounds per game (37.2) and sixth in field goal percentage (46.3%).
-The Eagles are on a four game-game winning streak, winning two on the road and two at home.
