Results

The Malone University track & field team kicked off its indoor season on Friday afternoon by sending four student-athletes to Youngstown State University's Icebreaker Meet.

Senior Duke Taylor won the weight throw competition among 25 competitors with an impressive heave of 56' 4.5".  In the history of the Pioneer track & field program, only Taylor himself had ever tallied a better performance in the indoor weight throw.  Taylor's mark on Friday was just over three feet shy of his own 2014 school record of 59' 7.5".

Junior Chad Sanner also took part in the weight throw on Friday, placing 22nd with a toss of 34' 3.5".

In the 5000 meters, Malone seniors Scott Whitaker and Lorne Strausbaugh placed third and fourth, respectively.  Whitaker clocked a time of 15:06.05 followed by Strausbaugh in 15:29.49.

Pioneer alum Ryan Roush, competing unattached, won the 5000 meters in 14:33.37.

Malone will be back in action next Friday and Saturday at Kent State University's Golden Flash Gala.
