The Malone University volleyball team was swept by rivals Walsh University by the final scores of 21-25, 21-25, 18-25 in its home finale Tuesday night. The loss dropped Malone to 7-23 on the season while Walsh improved to 10-17. The Cavaliers finished the season 3-0 against Malone.

The Pioneers never led in the first set Tuesday night as Walsh rolled to an early 1-0 lead. In the second set, Malone led by as many as five at 11-6. But the Cavaliers quickly won the next five to points to tie it at 11-11 before rolling to a 25-21 win thanks in large part to a .412 second-set attacking percentage. In the third set, three straight Malone kills made it 3-1 early on but the Cavaliers exuded their strength, outscoring the Pioneers 24-15 down the stretch en route to a three-set victory.

Mallory Adams led Malone with 10 kills while
Faith Lau and
Veronica Gehring added nine and eight kills respectively.
Tori Hall finished with a team-high 21 assists.

Defensively,
Lynsey Trusty was exceptional once again, totaling a game-high 22 digs in her final collegiate home game. Adams, Lau, and
Sydney Black each collected five digs. Senior
Haley Kool tallied five blocks in her final home match while
Cathryn Miller also registered five blocks.

The Pioneers will close out the regular season this weekend with two road matches at Alderson Broaddus and Davis & Elkins as they look to secure their bid to the G-MAC Tournament.
