Box Score The Malone University men's soccer team just came up short of upsetting the #1 team in the conference, Davis & Elkins, on Wednesday. Malone took Davis & Elkins into the last minute of double-overtime before falling 2-1.

Davis & Elkins scored the first goal of the game. The goal came in the fifteenth minute by Benjamin Pastur. Tim Staerz had the assist on Pastur's goal. The goal was Pastur's fourth on the season.

Davis & Elkins would hold their 1-0 lead until deep into the second half. With less than ten minutes remaining in regulation,
Jake Martell received a pass from
Caleb Griffith to score his first goal on the season. Martell's goal tied the game 1-1 and sent the team into overtime.

Cody Hilty had two crucial saves for the Pioneers in the first overtime period to keep the score tied and help send his team into double overtime. Hilty would have nine saves overall in the game.

The Pioneers were just inches away from upsetting Davis & Elkins in the second overtime when
Caleb Griffith took a shot that hit the crossbar halfway through the second overtime period.

Lukas Grosse-Puppendahl scored the game-winning goal for Davis & Elkins with less than 45 seconds remaining in the second overtime to give them the 2-1 victory. Lukas' goal, which was his fourth on the season, was assisted by Fredrik Hedemark.

The top five spots in the conference tournament have been officially clinched. Malone and Kentucky Wesleyan are competing for the sixth spot in the tournament. The Pioneers will play their final game of the season this upcoming Saturday against Alderson Broaddus. Malone will be celebrating their Senior Day prior to the start of their game which will begin at 1:00 p.m.
