Box Score The Malone University men's soccer team lost a hard-fought battle against the #1 team in the conference, Ohio Valley. Wednesday's final score was 3-2. This is the second time that Malone has given Ohio Valley a run for their money, losing 1-0 in their first meeting this season.

Ohio Valley got on the board first. Pedro Gonzalez bent in a long free kick near midfield for his second goal of the season. The Pioneers of Malone kept their heads up and fought to score a goal of their own only three minutes later.
Nick Astalos took a shot which was deflected by the goal keeper for Ohio Valley, Carlos Rubio. Off of Rubio's deflection,
Josh Sample scooped in and scored his first goal of the season. Â The score would remain tied 1-1 at the half.

The scoring began again not even a full minute into the game. Pedro Gonzalez scored his second goal of the game. The kick came from the left side and bounced off the hands of the keeper,
Cody Hilty, into the goal.

Five minutes later
Robert Nemes tied the game back up 2-2 for his third goal of the season. Nemes' goal was a left-footed dart through the middle of the field that the keeper could not get to in time.

Less than one minute later Celso Riveros of Ohio Valley scored the final goal of the game, giving the Fighting Scots a 3-2 victory. Riveros' goal came off of a deflection from the keeper after a previous Ohio Valley shot.

Malone will be back in action at Pioneer Field this Saturday at 1:00 against Cedarville.Â
