Archived Video BroadcastThe Malone University men's basketball team dropped its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest at home to NCAA Division II #23 Ferris State University on Thursday night by a final tally of 85-72.
After falling behind 47-34 at halftime, the Pioneers made several second-half runs, pulling to within six on three separate occasions. A dunk by forward
Neil Gingerich capped an 8-2 Malone spurt that made it 54-48 six minutes into the final period. FSU ballooned its advantage back out to 11 points before a three-pointer by guard
Christian Graves and an old-fashioned three-point play by guard
Stephen O'Daniel III cut the deficit to 63-58 midway through the final period. However, the Bulldogs quickly responded, rattling off seven straight points to regain a double-digit lead.
Malone continued to fight with back-to-back three-pointers by Graves and O'Daniel III that made the score 74-68 with just under three minutes to go. Unfortunately for the home team, the six-point margin was as close as they would get the rest of the way as the Bulldogs pulled away down the stretch for their 11th victory of the season.
