Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Fast Start Helps Oilers Overcome Stone's Career-High 29 Points

The Malone University men's basketball team dropped its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest at home to the University of Findlay on Saturday afternoon by a final tally of 83-67.

The Oilers, who entered the contest on an eight-game winning streak, built a commanding 47-30 halftime advantage after draining 10 of 17 three-point attempts over the first 20 minutes.  Although the Pioneers were unable to connect on a three-pointer of their own in the opening stanza, center Brian Stone had a big first half, scoring 21 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the field.

A three-pointer by guard Jay Parker and a lay-up by Stone helped Malone whittle the halftime deficit down to 64-55 midway through the final stanza.  However, the nine-point margin was as close as the Pioneers were able to get as Findlay tossed in six more treys during the second half en route to the 83-67 victory.
