GameDay Notes: Men's Basketball Travels to Wayne State Thursday, Hosts Findlay Saturday

The Pioneers will head to Michigan to face Wayne State University on Thursday, January 28th for a 7:30 p.m. match-up and will host the University of Findlay in Osborne Hall on Saturday, January 30th for a 3:00 p.m. tip-off.

-Wayne State: 3-2; Last season, the Pioneers defeated the Warriors twice, 77-74 at home and 86-81 at Wayne State.
-Findlay: 15-33; Malone lost to Findlay twice last season, 62-50 at Findlay and 70-62 at home.
 
Malone Notes:
-The Pioneers lost at home to Tiffin University last Thursday, 79-69. Christian Graves led the Pioneers with 20 points, going 6-for-10 from the three-point line. On Saturday, Malone fell on the road to Ohio Dominican University, 91-69. Mitchell Spotleson had a career-high 24 points, while grabbing nine rebounds.
-Brian Stone is not only ranked first in Division II in field goal percentage (74.6), but he has the best field goal percentage in all of college basketball. He also leads the team in points per game, averaging 14.0.
-Mitchell Spotleson is ranked eighth in the GLIAC in rebounds per game (7.5). He has grabbed 128 total rebounds on the season (28 offensively and 100 defensively), which is also a team high.
-Neil Gingerich leads the team with 19 total blocks.
-Jay Parker is ranked seventh in the GLIAC in assists per game, dishing out 4.5.
-As a team, the Pioneers are ranked fifth in the GLIAC in three-point percentage (37.0%), sixth in field goal percentage (46.1) and sixth in assists per game (15.1).

Wayne State Notes:
-David Greer has been at the helm of the Warriors' program for 15 years.
-The Warriors are returning 12 players from last season's squad.
-Wayne State snapped their six game losing streak, beating Lake Erie 67-42 last Thursday. Guard Marcus Moore finished with a team-high 17 points and six rebounds. 
-The Warriors' leading scorer so far this season is Ronald Booth. He has tallied 236 points, averaging 15.7 per game and is ranked 13th in the GLIAC in points per game. He has scored 20 or more points in five games this season.
-In conference play, the Warriors have beaten Northern Michigan University (58-52), Michigan Tech University (77-64), and Lake Erie College (67-42) at home. 
-Michael Lewis is ranked 14th in the GLIAC in rebounds per game (6.3).
-As a team, the Warriors are currently fifth in the GLIAC in blocks per game (3.2) and rebounds per game (38.5).
-Wayne State's record at home is 3-6, while they are 0-6 on the road.

Findlay Notes:
-Charlie Ernst is entering his fifth season as the Oilers' head coach.
-The Oilers are returning nine players from last year's team.
-Last season, the Oilers lost 69-62 at Saginaw Valley State University (MI) in the GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinal.
-Martyce Kimbrough is Findlay's leading scorer, he is averaging 14.9 points per game and has tallied a total of 254 points this season.
-John Staley is second in the GLIAC in field goal percentage, making 73.3% of his shots. Earlier this season, he made 13 straight shots without a miss.
-As a team, the Oilers are ranked fifth in the GLIAC in steals per game (7.4) and in field goal percentage (46.3).
-The Oilers are on a seven-game winning streak, winning two on the road and five at home.

The Pioneers will travel to North Canton to face rival Walsh University on Monday, February 1st for a 7:30 p.m. match-up and will take on Lake Erie College in Osborne Hall on Thursday, February 4th at 8:00 p.m. Malone will wrap-up their week at Ashland University on Saturday, February 6th at 3:00 p.m.
