The Malone University men's basketball team fell 91-69 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action at Ohio Dominican University on Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers struggled to get on track early on as the host Panthers charged out to a 15-4 lead nine minutes into the contest. Malone fought back, using a 16-7 surge later in the frame to pull within one at 25-24.
The Panthers went to the locker room holding a 35-30 advantage. A three-pointer by Pioneer guard
Christian Graves would then trim the hosts' lead to 39-37 three minutes into the final stanza, but it was all ODU from that point on. The Panthers took command with a 17-2 scoring run over the next three and half minutes and then maintained a double-digit lead through the remainder of the contest. Overall, ODU shot a blistering 62.5% (20 of 32) from the field during the final 20 minutes while hitting 10 of 11 second-half free throws.
Malone Individual Highlights-Forward
Mitchell Spotleson tossed in a career-high 24 points after hitting 8-15 FG, 4-7 from three-point range and all four of his free throws…he also grabbed nine rebounds

Kyle Nader made a nice contribution off the bench with nine points, three rebounds, three steals and three assists

Jay Parker tallied nine points five assists and four rebounds

Brian Stone posted eight points and three rebounds

Ohio Dominican Individual Highlights-Guard Chad Nelson poured in a game-high 29 points, connecting on 8-13 FG, 5-9 from three-point range and all eight of his free throws
-Forward Trent Weaver registered 15 points and nine boards
-Forward Mike DeLeon added 11 points, five rebounds and three steals
-Guard Adam Cytlak notched eight points, eight assists and four rebounds

Game Notes-The Pioneers pulled down 13 offensive boards and held an 18-12 advantage in second-chance points
-ODU and Malone each tallied 16 points off turnovers
-The Panthers shot 53.6% overall, making 12 of 24 three-pointers and 19 of 21 foul shots
