GameDay Notes: Men's Basketball Welcomes Tiffin Thursday, Travels to Ohio Dominican Saturday

Jason Miller has dished out 24 assists and tallied 10 steals on the season.

The Pioneers will host Tiffin University in Osborne Hall on Thursday, January 21 at 8:00 p.m. and will travel to Columbus, OH to take on Ohio Dominican University on Saturday, January 23 at 3:00 p.m.

-Tiffin: 63-23; Last season, the Pioneers defeated the Dragons twice, 68-62 at Tiffin and 81-78 at home.
-Ohio Dominican: 58-22; Last season, Malone played ODU twice, winning once at home 81-67 and losing once at ODU, 77-76.
 
Malone Notes:
-The defeat against Ashland on Saturday marked the sixth time this season that Malone has lost a game by three points or less.
-The Pioneers lost on the road to Lake Erie College last Thursday by one point, 70-69. Stephen O'Daniel III tallied 25 points to lead Malone. On Saturday, Malone fell at home to NCAA DII #17 Ashland University by the final score of 69-67. Neil Gingerich matched his season-high with 12 points off the bench. He also grabbed five rebounds and blocked four shots, while Christian Graves totaled 12 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
-Despite the losses to Lake Erie and Ashland, Malone shot at least 50% from the field in both matches.
-Brian Stone is not only ranked first in Division II in field goal percentage (75.2), but he has the best field goal percentage in all of college basketball. Stone has made 17-of-19 shots in the last three games. He also leads the team in points per game, averaging 15.2.
-Mitchell Spotleson is ranked eighth in the GLIAC in rebounds per game (7.4). He has grabbed 111 total rebounds on the season (25 offensively and 86 defensively), which is also a team high.
-Gingerich has had at least one block in each of the last three games. He leads the team with 15 total blocks.
-Jay Parker is ranked eighth in the GLIAC in assists per game, dishing out 4.4.
-As a team, the Pioneers are ranked fourth in the GLIAC in field goal percentage (47.0), fifth in three-point percentage (37.1%) and sixth in assists per game (15.2).

Tiffin Notes:
-Jerry Buccilla is entering his second season as the Dragons' head coach.
-The Dragons are returning eight players from last season's squad.
-Tiffin snapped their three game losing streak, beating Wayne State University (MI) 61-55 last Thursday. Guard Terrell Mabins finished with a team high 13 points. 
-The Dragon's leading scorer so far this season is Tony Kynard. He has tallied 222 points, averaging 15.9 per game and is ranked 12th in the GLIAC in points per game.
-In conference play, the Dragons have beaten Northern Michigan University (57-56) and Wayne State University (MI) (61-55) on the road, while beating Ferris State University (MI) (84-83) at home. 
-Chrisean Marsden is ranked 11th in rebounds per game (6.6), while Jonathan Sutherlin is ranked 12th in the GLIAC in rebounds per game (6.5).
-As a team, the Dragons are currently third in the GLIAC in blocks per game (3.5) and rebounds per game (39.8), and sixth in steals per game (7.5).

Ohio Dominican Notes:
-Dan Evans has been at the helm of the Panthers' program for three seasons.
-The Panthers are returning 10 players from last year's team.
-Trent Weaver is ODU's leading scorer, he is averaging 14.9 points per game. He is fourth in the GLIAC in rebounds per game (9.1) and 17th in points per game (14.9).
-Mike DeLeon is eighth in the GLIAC in field goal percentage, making 58.9% of his shots and 15th in rebounds per game (6.2)
-As a team, the Panthers are ranked sixth in the GLIAC in free throw percentage (72.4%), seventh in three-point percentage (36.0%) and assists per game (15.0), eighth in total rebounds, averaging 36.8 per game.
-The Panthers were on a nine game losing streak, but since then, they have won three of their last four games. All three of those games were won at home against conference opponents: Lake Superior State University (MI) 87-75, Northwood University (MI) 93-54, and Wayne State University (MI), 88-64.

The Pioneers will travel to Michigan to take on Wayne State University (MI) on Thursday, January 28th at 7:30 p.m. and will welcome the University of Findlay to Osborne Hall on Saturday, January 30th for a 3:00 p.m. tip-off.
