The Malone University women's soccer team lost 4-1 in their home opener against the University of Maine Fort Kent on Saturday afternoon.
The Bengals took advantage early on as they scored two minutes into the game to take a 1-0 advantage.
The Pioneers would tie the game in the 37
th minute when midfielder
Alex Carcano scored her first career goal on a penalty shot making it 1-1 with eight minutes remaining in the first half. The score would stay at one apiece going into halftime.
Both teams battled it out in the rain to start the second half until the 58
th minute when the Bengals netted a goal to take a 2-1 lead. Â MFK would continue the momentum as they would score again in the 61
st and 69
th minute to seal the 4-1 victory. Â Â
The Pioneers will return to action on Tuesday, September 15
th when they travel to face St. Thomas Aquinas College (NY) at 2:30 p.m.
