Volleyball Falls To #15 Ferris State In Three Sets On Road

Senior outside hitter Anna Hays blasted six kills for Malone although the Pioneers fell in straight sets Saturday to NCAA Div. II #15 Ferris State University (MI).

The Malone University volleyball team played its second nationally-ranked team on the road in as many days on Saturday as the Pioneers lost a three-set contest to GLIAC opponent and NCAA Div. II #15 Ferris State University (MI) by the score of 11-25, 18-25, 22-25.  With the loss, the Pioneers dropped to 2-7 overall on the campaign and to 0-4 in the GLIAC while the Bulldogs improved to 6-2 and 4-0 in the conference.

For Malone, outside hitters Taylor Slauterbeck and Anna Hays paced the squad on offense with seven and six kills, respectively, on the day, while outside hitter Shelbi Meek followed with four kills.  Setter Jordan Sollars tossed up 11 assists in the match while teammate Brianna Clegg tallied six of her own.  

On the defensive side of play, defensive specialist/libero Katie Hasebein scooped up a team-best 14 digs while Slauterbeck contributed seven.  Blocks were hard to come by against the Bulldogs as middle hitter Elizabeth Maczuzak posted a team-high three block assists in the match.

Malone will be back in action on Tuesday evening when the Pioneers will host GLIAC local rival Walsh University (0-8, 0-4 GLIAC) in a 7:00 p.m. match.
