After Two Rounds, Pioneers Still Hold One Shot Edge At Super Regionals; Light, Tarter Post 73's On Day Two

The Malone University men's golf team has held onto its one-shot lead after the second day of competition at the NCAA Division II Super Regional on Tuesday as Tyler Light and Nathan Tarter paced the Pioneers with second-round scores of 73.
 
At the par-72, 7120-yard Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka, Missouri, Malone tallied a day-two score of 299 (+11) and has a current total score of 590 (291-299). The Pioneers now hold a one-stroke edge over current runner-up Central Missouri University, which has a total score of 591 (293-298). Lindenwood University (MO) is in third place, two shots behind Malone, with a total score of 592 (295-297) among the 20-team field.  Tiffin University, at 597 (300-297), and Missouri-St. Louis University, also at 597 (301-296), are tied for fourth place while two other teams are one shot back and tied for sixth place. The top four teams will earn a berth in the NCAA Division II National Championships in Allendale, Michigan May 19-23.
 
For Malone, Light followed up his first-round score of 69 with a one-over-par 73 on Tuesday for a total score of 142, which places him in a tie for second overall among 108 golfers.  Light is two shots behind current leader Michael Colgate of Nebraska-Kearney University and is one of only three golfers currently under par for the tournament.
 
Tarter, who also carded a 73 today and is now tied for fourth overall, has a current even-par total score of 144 (71-73) and is one of just two players who are currently at even par for the event.
 
After a first-round score of 77, Jay Hollifield trimmed two shots off that score to post a 75 on Tuesday.  He is currently at 152 overall.
 
Garrison Myles, after firing a 78 today, is next for Malone with a total score of 153 (75-78) while Jon Clark, who tallied a 79 on Tuesday, stands at 155 (76-79).
 
The third and final round of the Super Regionals will be held tomorrow (Wednesday).
