The Malone University volleyball team suffered just the second GLIAC loss in its last 11 conference matches as the Pioneers lost at Hillsdale College (MI) 17-25, 22-25, 20-25 Friday night. With the loss, Malone dropped to 12-13 overall and to 9-6 in GLIAC play while the Chargers improved to 10-12 overall and to 8-7 in the conference.
Outside hitters
Taylor Slauterbeck and
Sarah Brent each blasted a team-high eight kills while outside hitters
Shelbi Meek and
Anna Hays followed with six kills apiece. Setters
Brianna Clegg and
Jordan Sollars dished out 17 and 15 assists, respectively.
On the defensive side of things, defensive specialist/libero
Katie Hasebein recorded 26 digs in the contest while, up at the net, four Pioneers recorded one block assist each.
Malone will be right back in action in a tri-match at the University of Findlay tomorrow (Saturday) as the Pioneers will face the host Oilers in a 1:00 p.m. match followed by a 3:30 p.m. contest vs. Alderson Broaddus University (WV).
