Volleyball Tallies Three-Set Victory Over Ohio Dominican In GLIAC Opener

Sophomore Sarah Brent tallied a match-high nine kills on Friday evening.

The Malone University volleyball team began the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) portion of its schedule on Friday evening at Osborne Hall with a 25-17, 25-20, 25-19 triumph over visiting Ohio Dominican University.

The Pioneers (6-3 overall, 1-0 GLIAC) notched five service aces on the night to go with 13 total blocks and 46 digs.  The Panthers (5-4 overall, 0-1 GLIAC) countered with 45 digs and 12 total blocks, but didn't fare as well on the offensive end, totaling just 25 kills over the course of the evening.

Outside hitter Sarah Brent led the way for the Pioneer attack with nine kills.  Fellow outside hitter Taylor Slauterbeck posted seven kills, five digs and three blocks (one solo).  Middle hitter Elizabeth Maczuzak added six kills and four blocks (one solo).  Libero Katie Hasebein tallied 13 digs while setter Kimberly McCracken contributed 27 assists and seven digs.
