Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The Malone University softball team (6-18, 0-10 GLIAC) was swept by Ashland University (19-13, 13-4 GLIAC) on a cold, overcast Saturday evening at Pioneer Field.

Ashland put a nine-spot on the board in the top half of the first inning in game one and never looked back en route to a 15-2 victory. The Eagles, who racked up 15 hits for the game, received a particularly strong effort from second baseman Cayla Seidler, who went 4-for-4 with a home run and five RBI's.

Freshman Amy Donze smacked a double for the Pioneers, while freshman Marionna Cane and senior Shelby Snyder added RBI's.

Ashland utilized the long ball in game two to record a 9-0 victory. The Eagles received home runs from Kourtney Yarnall, a two run blast in the third, and Taylor Menhart, a three-run shot in the fourth, in the win. Snyder had Malone's lone extra-base hit in the game, a double to the right-centerfield gap in the fifth inning. Donze and fellow freshmen Lisa Cordova and Emily Isla tacked on singles.

The Pioneers will play host to Lake Erie College on Monday at 3:00 pm. The games were originally scheduled for last Wednesday, April 10th but were rained out.
