The Malone University softball team couldn't solve Northwood (MI) University's pitching staff, dropping two road contests to the Timberwolves, 15-0 and 11-0 on Friday.

The Pioneers recorded five hits in Game 1 but couldn't tame the Northwood bats, losing 15-0. Senior Shelby Snyder took the loss, dropping to 3-5 on the season. Freshmen Alexa Holztrager, Karissa Melgoza, Amy Donze, Carly Holcomb and sophomore Carly Holcomb collected hits for the Pioneers.

The Northwood offense carried momentum into the second game scoring 11 more runs in an 11-0 win. Freshman Marionna Cane notched the lone Pioneer hit. Donze was credited with the loss to fall to 1-5 on the season.

Malone will host a doubleheader with Lake Superior State (MI) University on Saturday. Game 1 is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm.
