Box Score
The Malone University men's basketball team (11-10, 8-9 GLIAC) dropped its third consecutive game Saturday afternoon, falling at Ashland University 79-62.
The Pioneers got off to a good start, leading by as many as six points early in the game. The score remained tight until Ashland reeled off a pivotal 13-0 scoring run to advance the lead from 29-25 to 42-25. Malone would never recover, getting no closer than 14 points the rest of the way.
For the second consecutive game the Pioneers were led in scoring by
Christian Graves and
Stephen O'Daniel III. The freshmen duo followed up Thursday's career-high performances by finishing with 16 and 14 points, respectively, and combining on seven three-pointers.
In the end, however, Ashland's scoring balance proved to be too much. The Eagles (9-11, 7-10 GLIAC) had five players score in double figures and seven Ashland players scored at least eight points. As a team, Ashland finished 27-50 (54%) from the field and a blistering 10-19 (53%) from three-point land. In comparison, Malone went 20-51 (39%) from the field and 8-22 (36%) from beyond the arc.
The Pioneers will look to get back on the winning track when they host Tiffin University (8-15 overall, 5-12 GLIAC) next Thursday with tipoff slated for 6:00 p.m. Live statistics will be available during the game at
