Box Score

Sophomore Logan Pastor and junior Sydnee Penn each netted 13 points but the Malone University women's basketball team (13-12, 9-12 GLIAC) fell to NCAA Division II #25 Findlay 62-51 on Saturday.

Malone played the Oilers tight in the first half, trailing only 22-19 with 40 seconds remaining. However, a few costly mistakes in the half's waning moments allowed Findlay to score seven points in the final 40 seconds to bump the lead to double digits, 29-19 at halftime.

The Oilers (21-4, 18-3 GLIAC) used the run at the end of the half to fuel their start to the second, opening the half on a 10-3 run to lead 39-22. Malone battled back to within 10 again at the 8:34 mark but Findlay would go on another 7-0 spurt to give them a 57-40 lead with six minutes to go.

Lindsy Snyder was the only other Pioneer to join Pastor and Penn in double figures, finishing with 10 points and six rebounds. Findlay's Kayla Brown led all scorers with 21 points on 10 of 15 shooting.

As a team the Pioneers went 20 of 49 (40.8%) from the field and 6 of 20 (30.0%) from three-point land. Findlay finished 23 of 45 (51.1%) from the floor and 3 of 11 (27.3%) from beyond the arc. The Oilers held a decisive advantage in free-throw attempts, netting 13 of 22 (59.1%) while the Pioneers were a perfect 5 of 5. Findlay won the battle on the glass 32-23.
