When the Malone University volleyball team hosts the Walsh University Cavaliers in a 7:00 p.m. contest in Malone's Osborne Hall Tuesday evening (Nov. 5th), a "red sea" will likely be a part of the frenzied festivities as numerous Malone students are expected to be wearing red at the historic rivalry event.
The Pioneers will look to avenge an earlier loss to Walsh on the Cavaliers' home court in early October as Walsh made Malone see red with a 25-23, 19-25, 29-27, 25-23 victory over the Pioneers in a match in which all three of Malone's set losses came by the narrowest of margins.
Looking back to last season (2012), though, Malone swept the two-match series against Walsh with both victories coming in four sets.
As a special event between the second and third sets of Tuesday's match, four Malone students will compete in the "Castaway Challenge" to see who can draw the best "Wilson face!" The crowd will choose the winner, who will receive a $20 gift certificate to Milk and Honey.
Malone has an overall record of 10-14 and a 5-8 mark in the GLIAC while Walsh holds a record of 5-18 overall and a 2-11 record in GLIAC play.
Live video and
live stats will be available for the match. Tickets are $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for non-Malone students and senior citizens. Children 12 and under are free.
