Malone's Season Ends With 3-0 Loss To Northern Michigan

Box Score

The Malone University women's soccer team (4-12-1, 1-11 GLIAC) concluded its season with a 3-0 loss at home to Northern Michigan University (5-9-3, 5-4-3 GLIAC) on Sunday afternoon.

The visiting Wildcats busted the game open towards the latter stages of the first half, scoring two goals less than three minutes apart.

Malone threatened on a few occasions in the second half to get back in the game but couldn't solve Northern Michigan's keeper. Their best chance came on a loose ball in front of goal. Freshman Christine Najjar appeared to have a tap-in but she was beat to the ball by the keeper. The rebound settled for senior Ally Smith but her header at goal went inches wide. A third Northern Michigan goal in the 84th minute sealed it for the Wildcats.

Northern Michigan outshot Malone 19-4 for the match. Sophomore Staci Hackett made three saves in the loss, while Smith led the way with two shots.

Seniors Smith and Emily Soricelli were honored at halftime of the match for their contributions to the program.
