The Malone University women's soccer team (4-11-1, 1-10 GLIAC) threatened the Michigan Tech Huskies (11-4-1, 8-2-1 GLIAC) but watched as its comeback bid fell short in a 3-1 home loss.

Lexi Herrewig gave Michigan Tech a 2-0 halftime lead, scoring both of her goals only a minute apart. Freshman Sarah Reutter tallied her first career goal and points when she poked in Ally Smith's corner kick to pull the home side within one with 27 minutes to go, but Haley Crites' goal in the 77th minute put a damper on the Pioneers' comeback attempt.

The Huskies outshot Malone 24-6 for the game, holding a 12-3 edge in shots on goal and 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. Sophomore Staci Hackett made nine saves in net for Malone, while Smith led the Pioneers with two shots.

Malone will honor its two seniors on Sunday, Nov. 3rd, in their last game of the season. Kickoff is slated for noon at Pioneer Field.  Live statistics will be provided at http://www.sidearmstats.com/malone/wsoc/
