Jones's Goal In Double Overtime Dashes Malone's Playoff Aspirations

Tiffin University's Karl Jones scored a goal with four minutes remaining in the second overtime to lead the host Dragons to a 1-0 victory and mathematically eliminate the Malone University men's soccer team from postseason play on Friday afternoon.

The Dragons (9-2-2 overall, 7-2-2 GLIAC) pressured the Malone (3-10-1 overall, 2-9-1 GLIAC) defense from the game's onset, outshooting the Pioneers 31-10 for the match. However, senior goalkeeper Felipe Monteiro and the Pioneer defense kept Tiffin at bay until Jones broke the deadlock in the game's waning moments. It was the second time this season that Tiffin defeated Malone in overtime.

Monteiro made five saves in the loss for the Pioneers, while senior Rubem Miranda recorded a team-best four shots. Jones led all players with 10 shots.

Malone will wrap-up its season next weekend with a game at Lake Erie College on Friday, November 1st at 1:00 pm before coming home for a Sunday tilt with the University of Findlay at 2:30 p.m..
