Pioneer Volleyball Set To Compete In Three Matches At GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament This Weekend

Malone will take part in the nation's largest collegiate volleyball tournament this weekend with 32 teams squaring off in 48 matches on eight courts.

The Malone University volleyball team will travel to Aurora, Illinois this Friday & Saturday to take part in the sixth annual GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament.

The two-day event, considered the largest collegiate volleyball tournament in the country, will be held at the Great Lakes Center near Chicago, Illinois and will feature 48 matches conducted on eight courts, pitting 16 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) teams against 16 institutions representing the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).

The Pioneers, currently 9-10 overall and 4-7 in conference play, are seeded 11th among the contingent of GLIAC schools and will open play on Friday with an 11:30 a.m. CDT (12:30 p.m. EDT) match against 12th-seeded McKendree (IL) University (6-15 overall, 3-8 GLVC).

Malone will then wrap up the opening day of tournament competition at 5:30 p.m. CDT (6:30 p.m. EDT) by taking on the No. 10 seed, the University of Wisconsin- Parkside (11-9 overall, 5-6 GLVC).

The Pioneers' final match of the weekend will take place at 1:00 p.m. CDT (2:00 p.m. EDT) on Saturday against No. 16 Maryville (MO) University (6-17 overall, 1-10 GLVC).

Malone came away with a 2-1 record in its first trip to the Crossover Tournament last fall.
