The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recently announced that Malone University volleyball player Anna Hays has been named the league's South Division Player of the Week after leading the Pioneers to a 1-1 record in a pair of road matches over the weekend.

Hays, a junior outside hitter from Temperance, Michigan, averaged 2.62 kills per set on the week with six aces, seven digs and a .360 attack percentage.  She notched eight kills and two aces against Northern Michigan University on Friday before posting 13 kills and four aces in a five-set triumph over Michigan Tech University on Saturday. 

On the year, Hays has tallied 118 kills with 17 blocks and 67 digs.  Her average of 0.47 service aces per set currently ranks fourth in the GLIAC.

The Pioneers will be back in action this weekend with a pair of home conference matches.  Malone faces Saginaw Valley State (MI) University on Friday at 7:00 p.m. before taking on Lake Superior State (MI) University on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
