The Malone University volleyball team wrapped up its weekend trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula on Saturday afternoon with a five-set triumph over Michigan Tech University by scores of 25-19, 15-25, 25-22, 20-25 and 15-8.
Malone snapped a six-game slide with the closely-contested victory, improving to 8-9 overall and 3-6 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Huskies, meanwhile, slipped to 6-12 overall and 4-5 in conference play.
The Pioneers posted a .220 attack percentage, 10 service aces and 50 kills in the contest. Michigan Tech countered with a .240 hitting percentage, 11 aces and 58 kills.
Outside hitters
Anna Hays and
Taylor Slauterbeck each notched 13 kills apiece to lead the way for Malone. In addition to their double-digit kill totals, Hays added four service aces while Slauterbeck scooped up 15 digs. Middle hitter
