Three additional Malone University track & field athletes competed at the Jesse Owens Classic, hosted by The Ohio State University, in Columbus, Ohio on the second and final day of competition Saturday. After one men's and three women's Pioneer athletes competed on Friday, three Malone men went up against the mostly NCAA Division I field of competitors on day two of the prestigious event.
Malik Felton was the only Pioneer to compete in two events at the meet as he took part in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. In the 100, Felton blazed a time of 11.00 seconds to finish eighth among 18 runners. He later posted a time of 22.47 in the 200 meter to place seventh among the 17-runner field.
Matt Hendrix finished 24th among 36 entrants in the 800 meters in a time of 1:55.07. In addition,
Philip Palmer took part in the 400-meter hurdles and tallied a time of 56.65 to place ninth among 11 hurdlers.
The Malone men's and women's teams will next compete at the Ohio Independent Championships, hosted by Walsh University, on Saturday, April 21st.
