Selana Reale poured in a team-high 13 points and Bowling Green University transfer
Logan Pastor added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in her first game as a Pioneer, to lead the Malone University women's basketball team over host Ursuline College 52-37 in their season opener on Saturday afternoon.
Reale scored 10 of her 13 points, including a pair of three pointers, in the first half to send Malone to halftime with a 28-15 lead. The Pioneers would rely on their defense in the second half to secure the win. Freshman forward
Tara Schaffter scored nine points and grabbed five rebounds in her collegiate debut while sophomore
Lindsy Snyder scored four points and hauled in a team-high eight rebounds. Brianna Woods led Ursuline with 12 points.
The Pioneers held Ursuline to 13 of 54 shooting (24.1%) while they connected on 22 of 60 attempts from the field (36.7%) and 4 of 12 (33%) from beyond the arc.
Malone will return to the court on Nov. 17th when they travel to Indiana to take on Saint Joseph's College.
