Volleyball Picks Up Non-Conference Victory At Notre Dame College

Middle hitter Hannah Haver recorded nine kills and a pair of blocks in Malone's three-set win Tuesday night.

The Malone University volleyball team swept the first three sets of a non-conference match at Notre Dame College on Tuesday evening, winning the contest by scores of 25-20, 25-14, and 25-19. 

With the victory, the Pioneers improved their overall record to 9-7.  The Falcons, meanwhile, slipped to 4-14 on the season after suffering their fourth straight defeat.

All 14 players on the Malone roster participated in Tuesday's contest, led by middle hitter Hannah Haver, who registered a match-high nine kills.  Middle hitter Lauren Townley added eight kills followed by outside hitter Anna Hays with seven.  Outside hitters Sarah Brent and Taylor Slauterbeck chipped in with six and five kills, respectively.  Setter Jackie Schwamberger handed out 28 assists and scooped up a team-best eight digs. 

Brianne Schmansky paced NDC with seven kills.  Tawnia Almarez added a match-high 11 digs.

The Pioneers, winners of two straight, will be back in action over the weekend as the squad takes part in three matches at the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Tournament near Chicago, Illinois.  Malone will open the event on Friday with a 3:30 p.m. (2:30 p.m. CDT) match-up against Kentucky Wesleyan College.  Then on Saturday, the Pioneers will face the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at 11:00 a.m. (10:00 a.m. CDT) followed by a 5:00 p.m. (4:00 p.m. CDT) contest against McKendree (IL) University.  Click here for more information on the Crossover Tournament.
