Women’s Soccer Hangs Tough, Clipped by Ashland 2-0

A rough 16 seconds was the Malone University Women's soccer team's undoing as they fell on the road at Ashland University 2-0 Friday evening.

Malone (1-8-1, 0-6-1 GLIAC) battled hard the entire match and went into halftime tied 0-0, despite being outshot 8-1. The Pioneers would display the same grit in the second half, holding the Eagles (3-9, 2-5 GLIAC) scoreless up until the 63rd minute when Ashland would strike for two goals in a 19-second span.

Ashland outshot Malone 25-3 for the game. Senior goalkeeper Angie Nutial was outstanding in net stopping 12 of the 14 shots that found their way on target, while senior Amanda Hanlon was dangerous in the attacking half for Malone, registering two of the Pioneers' three shots.

Malone next faces off with the Panthers of Ohio Dominican University in a 4:00 p.m. road match on Sunday Oct. 7th.
