The Malone University volleyball team wrapped up play at the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Tournament in Aurora, Illinois on Saturday by tallying a 1-1 record in matches against the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and McKendree (IL) University.
The Pioneers, winners of a five-set contest over Kentucky Wesleyan College on Friday, came away from their first appearance at the Crossover Tournament with a 2-1 record. Check out the event webpage at

Malone (11-8 overall) will return to conference play with two contests in Michigan next weekend. The Pioneers will open their trip with a 7:00 p.m. match at Saginaw Valley State University on Friday before travelling to Michigan's Upper Peninsula on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. contest at Lake Superior State University.
In Saturday's opener, UW-Parkside prevailed in straight sets, claiming the match by scores of 25-23, 25-15 and 25-23. Middle hitter
Hannah Haver paced the Pioneer attack with 10 kills and three block assists. Outside hitter
Taylor Slauterbeck added eight kills and seven digs. Libero
Allison Kirby scooped up 10 digs while setter
Jackie Schwambergerr contributed 30 assists, 10 digs and two block assists.
In the tournament finale, Malone downed McKendree in four sets, winning by scores of 25-22, 21-25, 26-24 and 25-21. The Pioneers posted a season high for blocks in the match with two solos and 22 block assists. Middle hitter
Lauren Townley led the way for Malone, racking up 15 kills and five blocks (one solo). Outside hitter
Elizabeth Maczuzak added 13 kills. Haver also reached double digits in kills with 12 while recording seven block assists. Right-side hitter
Diana Wallace added six kills and six blocks (one solo). Slauterbeck followed with five kills and 15 digs while Kirby registered a match-high 20 digs. Schwamberger had yet another solid all-around performance with 44 assists, four kills, 10 digs and three blocks.
